Making government transparent, one bill at a time.
What’s in That Bill is a free platform designed to help people quickly understand what’s really inside congressional bills. Instead of wading through dense legal text, users can see:
- Current bills being debated in the House and Senate
- AI-powered summaries that highlight key provisions in plain English
- Updates when bills become law, including their actual impact on U.S. law
The mission is simple: make legislation more accessible and transparent for everyone.
My Role
I am leading full-stack development for the project, handling both the front-end and back-end:
- Frontend: Astro – lightweight, fast, and modern for building the user interface.
- Backend: Supabase – managing authentication, database storage, and APIs.
- Integrations: Congress.gov and ProPublica APIs for up-to-date legislative data.
- AI Layer: Summarization powered by large language models.
This project not only strengthens my skills in modern web development, but also contributes to civic transparency by making it easier for anyone to understand the laws shaping daily life.
