Just a little about me
Learn about me and what I am up to right now.
About Me
My name is Justin Osagie, a full-time software engineer at Citibank and a passionate tech enthusiast with a lifelong love for technology. Growing up in a Nigerian household in Florida, I was immersed in diverse cultures and flavors—think home-cooked Jollof rice, fried rice, buff buff, and chinchin—which helped shape my creative and curious nature. Early on, I explored digital design and tech through making videos, setting the stage for my future in software development.
After earning my computer science degree from the University of South Florida, I built my skills through internships at Florida Power & Light, USF, NextEra Energy, and Citibank. My journey from creating tech videos inspired by leading creators to specializing in full-stack development with a focus on front-end reflects my commitment to continuous learning and growth. I now channel this passion into web design and development, helping clients build visually striking and highly functional websites.
Beyond coding, I follow a strength and running routine and maintain a student-athlete mindset—always seeking to learn and grow, and to be strong not just for myself, but to help others as well.
What I'm doing now
As of Feburary 2025, here are a few things I'm focused on:
- Building my freelance web development business – I’m growing Bayshore Web Designs , helping small businesses create beautiful, high-performing websites. This is sharpening both my sales and technical skills.
- Expanding my technical skills – I’m learning Astro, Tailwind CSS, HTML, CSS, Angular, RxJS, Go, MongoDB, and SQL to become a more well-rounded developer.
- Deepening my knowledge through books – I’m reading 25 books over the next year, treating it like an "MBA-level education" in entrepreneurship. I’m also studying books on technology and software engineering, like System Design Interview, to enhance my problem-solving skills.
- Prioritizing health and fitness – I’m following a muscle-building and running split to cut weight and get lean, ensuring I have more energy and focus for everything I do.
- Refining my personal finances – I’m taking a hard look at my expenses, cutting back on unnecessary spending, and redirecting that money toward areas of growth and enjoyment.
What I'm Not Doing
To focus on the things that matter most, here are a few things I'm intentionally not doing right now:
- Impulsive spending – While I still view social media, I’m steering clear of content that nudges me to spend impulsively. I’m committed to saving money for better experiences rather than succumbing to quick buys.
- Spending on takeout – I’m cutting back on buying fast food, choosing to invest in healthier options that fuel my body and keep my finances in check.
- Playing video games – I’m no longer playing video games as much so I can focus on activities that truly bring happiness, encourage me to get outdoors, and spark creative ideas—like side projects in web design or new career advancements.
This Now page reflects my current priorities and goals, and I will update it regularly as my focus and activities change over time.
